What design advice would you give to someone looking to pick out window treatments for their home?
I truly believe that no room is complete without fabulous window treatments! While my go-to is always a classic, neutral linen fabric, drapes and shades can be a wonderful place to play with pattern, texture, or a favorite trend. I love when a space has a little personality peeking through.
I’ve never met a pinch pleat or a euro pleat I didn’t love. They’re tailored, time-tested, and endlessly versatile—styles that have been loved for generations and will continue to feel relevant and refined for years to come.
One detail I always prioritize is placement. Hanging drapery high and wide adds instant charm, and gives a room a more gracious feel. Because custom window treatments are a meaningful investment, I encourage clients to think long-term. When there’s uncertainty, leaning classic is always a wise decision.
If you aren't quite sure where to begin, Loom Decor offers free consultations to combat design decision fatigue. Their stylists can help make your fabric choices, measuring, and ordering a breeze!
What’s one design rule you always follow, and one you always break?
Balance is the rule I always follow! Symmetry truly soothes my soul. Whether it’s twin beds perfectly placed in a shared bedroom, a traditional exterior with a centered front door, or a pair of pillows mirroring one another on a sofa, balance brings a sense of calm and order to a space. There’s something timeless and comforting about rooms that feel thoughtfully balanced; they invite you to settle in and stay awhile.
The rule I think is a little overrated is that everything needs to be done all at once. I truly believe a home should feel collected, gradually curated over time, and never fully completed. It’s in those small layers—pieces found, gifts treasured, moments remembered—that a space becomes wholly personal, meaningful, and unmistakably yours.
What’s your go-to trick for making a space feel more cohesive?
While I adore the maximalism trend, I personally get a little overwhelmed by too much visual clutter in my own home. For me, the easiest way to keep a space feeling cohesive is to stick to the color palette that makes me the happiest—soft blues, gentle greens, and warm neutrals. Repeating your favorite tones throughout your home, in everything from textiles to art to accessories, creates a quiet harmony that feels restful, cheerful, and intentional. It’s a simple way to bring a sense of calm and cohesion, even when mixing patterns, textures, and treasured finds.
