Featuring Kate Smith Interiors and Cottages & Gardens

We are thrilled to give you a sneak peek preview of our Roman Shades displayed in Hartford's 2025 Designer Show House, presented by CTC&G.
To say we are obsessed with this show-house would be an understatement. Each room was so thoughtfully designed and curated by each designer, we just can't get enough of all the details included. We’ll admit, we have a soft spot for the study designed by Kate Smith Interiors, especially with our Roman Shades as the finishing touch. But hey, maybe we’re a little biased!

GET THE LOOM LOOK
Style: Flat Roman Shade - our most popular style. With a smooth front and stacking folds, it's clean, aesthetically pleasing and highly functional.
Fabric: Baldwin Goldenrod - why go neutral when you can go bold? We love this ticking stripe fabric, available in 8 colors!
Lining: Privacy - let the sunshine in while giving yourself some privacy.
Mechanism: Cordless - meaning no cords that get in the way of the style.

We worked closely with Kate to bring these Loom Decor Roman Shades into this space, adding a subtle pop of sunshine with this golden yellow fabric. Enough of us though, read below to see Kate's responses regarding this project, her selections, what inspires her most, and advice she has for you!

Which part of this project and space was your favorite to design?
This room has a very small footprint, which allowed me to be a bit more bold with color and pattern choices. I tend to think that small spaces are the best to have fun with! I love to pattern drench a room.
Why did you pick the "Baldwin Goldenrod" fabric?
The wallpaper in this room was my first selection, and really acted as the road map for everything else I pulled in. The paper has some subtle yellow flowers that I really wanted to make pop more, and the goldenrod color was the PERFECT way to accent this sunny color.
What design advice would you give to someone looking to pick out window treatments for their home?
Think about how you use the space first and decide if you need functional, privacy, or just decorative shades, and then have fun with it!
What is the most rewarding aspect of the design process for you?
Seeing the whole space come together, and getting the client’s final reaction. I visualize everything in my head for so long, and work with renderings, but nothing beats seeing the space come together in reality!
What role do custom window treatments play in your designs?
Custom window treatments elevate every space. Not only do they provide great function, but they are also a tool to bring print and color into a space! A room never feels finished without window treatments.
