Drapery Pleat Styles Explained & Coordinating Hardware

All the different drapery pleat styles available can be confusing - pinch pleat, euro pleat, grommet - what does it all mean?! Rest assured, you can't really go wrong with any of the pleat style options as they all create a beautiful look. Some options, however, are better suited for specific functional needs. We're here to help explain the design details, where they look best, and recommend the hardware that best compliments your pleat style. 

Details: Our Euro Pleat Drapery offers a modern twist on the classic pleat style. The pleats are sewn right below the top edge, creating a clean tailored pleat that works beautifully in all spaces.

Rooms: This is a Loom Decor go-to pleat style for any room in the home.

Hardware: Compatible with French Return Hardware, Custom Cut Hardware, or our Newport Line Hardware. If you are sourcing your hardware elsewhere, this pleat style is compatible with most rod/ring style hardware.

Details: This traditional triple pinch-pleated curtain style is "pinched" (hence the name) 4” from the top, creating a high end detail on every pleat. Offering elegant fullness and a slightly more formal feel that remains timeless.

Convertible curtains also offers two options - either hang it with drapery rings for a clean, highly functional finish, or slip it directly onto the hardware for a casual rod-pocket style. Personally, we prefer the rings!

Rooms: Ideal for rooms where you are doing drapery for decorative purposes only. Another option? A chic, upgraded shower curtain. Simply hang the drapery using shower curtain hooks over your existing plastic liner to instantly transform your space.

Hardware: Compatible with French Return Hardware, Custom Cut Hardware, or our Newport Line Hardware. Make sure to not include rings with the order! If you are sourcing your hardware elsewhere, this pleat style is compatible with most rods up to a 1 3⁄8” diameter.
